Today a modern hospital has just not the doctor and nurses alone but a large contingent of administrative support staff. In any large corporate hospital, the medical staff comprising of doctor and nurse v/s the support staff runs into a ratio of 60:40. That means almost 40% of the staff in any modern corporate hospital would be support staff comprising of Admin, HR, Patient Relations, Accounts, Record maintenance etc. The success of a large modern hospital today to a very large extent depends upon the quality and effectiveness of its non-clinical support staff, who works as the interface between doctor and patient, patient and nurse and between doctor and nurse within the hospital.
